According to the data released by AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), on 6 February 2023 at 01.17 (UTC) and 10.24 (UTC), two earthquakes with a magnitude of Mw 7.7 (8.6 km depth) and Mw 7.6 (7.6 km depth) occurred in Pazarcık (Kahramanmaraş) and Elbistan (Kahramanmaraş). As a result of the detailed field studies carried out by EERC academicians, a preliminary report was prepared that reveals the seismological, geotechnical, and structural effects of earthquakes.
